Season 002: 봄맞이
봄맞이 is the Korean word for the act of welcoming spring. Not the arrival of spring itself, but the small acts of welcoming it: to open the windows, to go outside and enjoy the sun, and to slowly turn away from the winter months.
This season's collection was gathered with that idea in mind. Many of the pieces here were shaped by processes the maker could guide but not fully determine: A glaze that blooms differently in every firing or a crackle that forms as the kiln cools. In Korean this quality has a name, 요변 (yobyeon). The transformation that happens beyond the maker's hand.
These pieces come from small workshops and markets in Seoul. Each one is individual and here only once.
VELD: between the fields of Limburg and the streets of Seoul.
